What you’ll be doing…

This challenging role provides the opportunity to lead a team of experienced software engineers who love debugging and prefer variety, and who are passionate about finding and fixing problems. This is the team that everyone relies on to resolve real customer impacting issues in all areas of the product. This team also delivers important technical feedback to the rest of Development, providing input and advice on areas for improvement.

You will be an integral part of an elite, high-performing and visible team that is dedicated to improving total customer experience and customer satisfaction. You will use your management experience to be a guide and mentor in an environment that can be fast-paced and interrupt-driven. Some of the things you’ll be doing include … *LI-CP1

Technical leadership, communicating with team members and other developers on a technical level about defects and proposed fixes.
Continuously improve team productivity through technical growth, process improvements, and tools.
Pull together and participate in cross-functional teams, including members of various Development groups and Tech Support to resolve important, high-visibility customer issues.
For all issues on your team’s plate, ensure proper resources are engaged, you understand current status and next steps, and you are able to summarize and communicate status and updates clearly and concisely.
Ensure members of your team have what they need to succeed, from hardware to software to advice and/or assistance from other developers and test engineers.
Work with the Sustaining product owner to understand and prioritize incoming and escalated issues.
Work with other managers, product owners, and feature teams to ensure they understand and correctly prioritize customer issues they own.
Provide feedback on design and implementation improvements, particularly with regards to supportability and sustainability.
Mentor and coach your team members individually with the right balance of direction and support.

Who you are…

Experienced. Minimum of 3 years of prior management experience in a software engineering or similar highly technical environment. Familiarity with the software development lifecycle is required. Strong problem solving skills.
Educated. BSCS or BSCE.
Communicator. Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, are required for interaction with team members, other software development teams, senior management, Tech Support, and other groups within Tableau. Excellent listening skills.
Leader. Demonstrated drive and ability to get things done in an innovative and fast paced environment.
Adaptable. Able to context-switch while ensuring the highest quality of work; able to quickly learn new technology and new products.
A True Team Player. You enjoy collaborating, learning from or teaching others so we can all become better developers.
