Job Purpose
CSR is a pioneering designer and developer of silicon and software for the consumer electronics market. We help to transform the lives of motorists, music lovers, mobile phone users, gamers, and other gadget-loving consumers. We are currently recruiting an experienced Mobile Applications Development Manager to join the Business Group development team to deliver mobile applications that configure and control CSR platforms and solutions.
The role holder will be responsible for all aspects of developing and delivering the portfolio of mobile applications within the Business Group. This includes growing and managing a team of engineers to develop a variety of mobile applications for various mobile platforms including Android, iOS and Windows Mobile. These applications are used to configure and control solutions from the Business Group product lines including Audio, Bluetooth Smart, Location and Connectivity. The applications developed shall look to re-use code and architecture design from other mobile applications and development areas and must be well tested and documented before release.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the development of mobile applications of varying levels of complexity to agreed timescale for multiple mobile phone platforms (iOS, Android, Windows Mobile)
· Responsible for assigning and monitoring the delivery and quality of the work to the team
· Responsible for tracking of all new work items as they arrive and prioritising appropriately
· Responsible for identifying and managing projects and deliverables including outsourced components
· Performing requirements capture for each request along with appropriate software system architecture
· Task definition and work breakdown including time estimation
· Delivering high quality software in line with the department’s processes
· Play a significant role in continuous development of the department’s processes
· Create relevant documentation following the department’s processes
· Conduct peer software reviews
· Owning and maintaining the mobile application development portfolio within the Business Group
· Integrate development with other project deliveries and testing to deliver a complete solution
Person Specification – Required
· Degree or equivalent qualification and experience
· Experience and understanding of programming languages (specifically for Android and iOS)
· Good understanding of mobile application software design techniques
· Good understanding of debugging techniques
· Team Lead experience
· Strong Analytical skills that clearly show you understand how systems are defined and developed
· Good communication skills
· Significant commercial or equivalent experience of at least one high level programming language
· Ability to work under time pressure to meet customer or trade show deadlines
Person Specification – Desired
· Good understanding of processor architectures and peripherals
· Good experience of wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Bluetooth Smart and/or WiFi
· Experience in publishing mobile applications for iOS, Android or Windows Mobile
· Basic hardware experience
