Staff Software Engineer

Position Summary:
The Staff Software Engineer will lead efforts to design and implement various aspects of our global transaction processing systems. Demonstrated expertise in developing highly available, reliable, and scalable solutions in JavaTM required. Experience with Java technologies especially on the IBM WebSphere platform is a plus.
Primary responsibilities include implementing (analysis, proposal, design) enterprise-level system designs and working with one or more development teams to realize product design and implementation that are in line with business and technology strategies. It is important that the staff engineer be able to leverage business and technical expertise to identify appropriate requirements and solutions.
It is expected that the Staff engineer be self-motivated and function as a technical leader across multiple development teams. She/he must be an excellent communicator (verbal/written) and be willing to coach/mentor team members.
Qualifications
-General
-10+ years experience developing mission critical Web and backend applications in various capacities (individual contributor, lead, etc) with 8+ years in hands-on software development.
-Should be self-motivated and able to work independently.
-Capabilities
-Expertise in decomposing large problems to architect solutions that pays attention to reusable components.
-Expertise in TDD and ability to establish, gather and improve using code metrics.
-Excellent communicator, ability to drive the architectural review process across various engineering and managerial functions.
-Technical expertise (significant match of the following skills):
-Strong OO and SOA design skills
-Demonstrated understand of TDD, refactoring and CI. Desire to influence others to adopt these practices.
-Good experience (at least 5 years) with the following technologies:
– Experience developing and debugging web sites and apps with C#/ASP.NET and SQL.
– Experience developing in MS Visual Studio 10/12
-Java: Generics, Multi-Threading, Class loading, Spring framework.
-Java EE: Servlet, EJB, JMS, MDB.
-Web Services: JAX-WS/AXIS, working knowledge of WSDL.
-Strong knowledge of Oracle/Sybase/MySQL and ability to write and debug stored procedures. At least 4 years of experience with writing SQL (experience with oracle preferred).
-Experience with JavaScript, Ajax, CSS.
-Working knowledge of Maven or Ant.
-XML, XPATH, XSL and XSD design.
-Strong debugging skills. Ability to debug problems with and without presence of debugging tools i.e. using multiple traces ex: log files, event logs etc.
