Description

The Corporate Counsel position is a valuable role in the company’s legal group and will support Tableau’s marketing, engineering, HR and operations groups. This role will involve preparation, analysis, and counseling on a wide range of commercial agreements and matters, including technology licensing, marketing support, engineering and IP protection support, as well as regulatory matters, including projects related to international corporate structure, compliance and governance. This role will also support operations functions such as tax, finance and HR, with a particular focus on international support. As a self-starting, experienced communicator and problem-solver, this individual must be able to prioritize effectively and drive issues to resolution within a team environment focused on growth, execution and process improvement.

What you’ll be doing… LI-LS1

Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate commercial contracts, including agreements relating to technology licensing (on-premises and SaaS), professional services, and direct and indirect distribution.

Provide project management, implementation and training in key areas, including compliance and data privacy.
Collaborate cross-functionally with the company’s sales, marketing, engineering and operations groups to understand and ensure consistency of agreement terms with the company’s business, financial and risk management objectives.
Create and implement employment forms and policies, within the US and internationally.
Advise internal clients regarding legal and business issues, including identifying, managing and communicating risks and opportunities associated with specific agreements and business objectives and initiatives.
Contribute to ongoing process improvement and problem solving by the legal group.
Consistently anticipate, guard against, provide timely evaluation and guidance of, and propose mitigation strategies for and advise management of potential risks in contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial and legal areas.

Performer. Developed business acumen, with ability to understand the company’s business and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settings.
Detail oriented. Well organized, detailed oriented and adept in a fast paced environment
Experienced. 5+ years specific technology transactions and commercial agreement /licensing drafting, review, negotiation and analysis experience. Law firm and in-house technology company experience preferred but not required
Educated. JD from accredited law school; Bar admission
