The job
In this job your primary objective is to deliver software which contributes to our business goals. You will be working at our head office in Rotterdam developing our recruitment platform, various internal back-office applications and internal and external API’s. You will mentor, coach and work with an experienced engineering team with a strong vision on web development and software architecture, giving you a full intellectual challenge every day. One day of the week will be dedicated to R&D, prototyping and researching new processes, techniques and tools. (results are shared on our tech blog http://labs.qandidate.com)

We use the following stack (and this list is growing): LAMP + Elasticsearch, Symfony2 / Doctrine2 / AngularJS, Git and GitHub, Test driven development, CQRS / DDD, Event sourcing, Micro services, Docker and we are constantly investigating new stuff like scala / hhvm / hack / golang…

Your responsibilities
• Jointly responsible for the company Strategy, Objectives and KPI’s
• Shipping 😉
• Product roadmap together with CMO and CPO
• Hire, mentor and coach engineering teams
• Inspire and push team and individuals to next level
• Overall system architecture
• Decide on methods, platforms and programming languages
• Choose and manage vendors used

Who are we looking for?
To make this role a success you need to have a clear vision on web technology and you need to be able to inspire your engineering team. You love working in an vibrant and dynamic startup and you are a self-starter that thrives with minimal oversight. Besides that, you know how to get shit done, how to have fun and dream big ;)!

You have:
• A Master degree computer science or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience across the/our development stack
• Experience building a company from early stage (MVP) to growth phase
• Experience successfully leading multiple (scrum) teams
• Experienced with, or have a strong opinion about “Lean startup” and “Agile” methods

Big plus if you can check some of these boxes:
• Top university
• Experienced in HR technology
• Public speaker and/or blogger
• Proven ability to grow technical leaders within the team
• Proven driver behind innovation
• Proven track record of leadership skills and success in (multiple) team settings
• Passionate about technology in his spare time (conferences, blogs, tinkering, etc)
• Finds the 80/20 (80% of the benefits for 20% of the effort)
