Responsibilities

Research, evaluate and identify new Server and I/O technologies to fit our customer needs

Work with stakeholders to prioritize product requirements.

Prototype and evaluate Server platforms and I/O options to maintain a cutting edge.

Benchmark system performance.

Coordinate with software development and QE engineers.

Provide specifications to hardware vendors, contract manufactures and drive a joint project on technical level.

Plan and execute tests for feature, qualification, system, performance and regression testing.

Create, review and maintain technical design documents, functional test plans, troubleshooting guides and user manuals.

Work with cross-functional team to prepare for support readiness.

Handle engineering escalations to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.

Resolve system-level EE, ME, or software issues.

Identify performance bottlenecks and tune the hardware platforms to optimize performance targets.

Mentor junior team members.

Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on experience in building hardware platforms with storage systems as the main focus.

BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related.

Demonstrable achievements in designing storage solutions with I/O technologies such as PCI-E, Fibre Channel, 10G Ethernet, iSCSI; and storage technologies such as SAS, SATA, SSD, Flash storage and RAID systems.

In-depth knowledge of storage architectures.

Knowledge of x86 server architecture.

Solid working knowledge of Linux and windows operating systems.

Proven hardware troubleshooting skills.

Working knowledge of RAID adapters, SAS Switch, FC HBAs, and storage subsystems.

Ability to analyze complex system engineering issues including debugging at the hardware, firmware, and drivers level.

Experience in scripting in Perl, Python or similar languages.

Experience with encryption and security technologies is a plus.
