The Itinerary Team is looking for a Software Development Manager to work as a key member of our team to manage the developers who build and deliver a great experience for our users.
Responsibilities:
- Recruiting, retaining, and managing a team of software developers
- Our team supports the full life cycle support for a JSON api, itinerary pages, and a notification system
- Participate in technical design discussions, sprint planning, daily standups
- Mentor software developers both technically and in soft skills
- Handle developer needs such as one to ones, feedback, and coaching
- Collaborate with, negotiate, and influence other teams within Expedia to design and develop features
- Manage conflict, priorities, work direction for the team
- Be part of a dynamic, continuously delivering team using Agile development process
- Collaborate with product team, test team, and technical product managers to deliver features in every weekly releas
Qualifications:
- 7+ yrs software development experience and strong at developing web applications in Java
- 1-2 yrs leading or managing engineering teams
- Initiative – defining projects and processes, correcting problems
- Knowledgeable about the entire product lifecycle
- Flexible problem solver and lifelong learner
- Ability to create empathetic relationships with people … must have a sense of humor!
- Enjoys working with people and has good communication skills
- BSCS or related engineering degree
