The Role:
Bloomberg is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join us in building BLAW’s Search and Data Navigation platform, leveraging open source search technologies and machine learning models for natural language search and relevance. The candidate should demonstrate a history of on-time delivery, excellent communication, and a positive get-it-done attitude. Legal domain expertise and experience working on legal research platforms is a strong plus.

Qualifications:
– 7+ years of Core Java Programming experience in the Unix or Linux environment
– Solid understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms & Object-Oriented design concepts
– 2+ years of experience with Apache Solr with a thorough understanding of the internals of Apache Solr, including SolrCloud
– Experience developing custom Search components such as query parsers, relevance models and highlighting models
– Experience with multithreaded and distributed systems
– Experience with XML/XSD and other schema driven data
– Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
– Team player with excellent communication skills
– Legal domain expertise & experience working on legal research platforms is a strong plus
