Job summary
The Red Hat Sales team is seeking a highly skilled Federal Direct Sales Account Manager to focus on our virtualization and cloud products. In this role, you’ll grow and develop our Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) business by working closely with our most strategic customers in the DOD community to deliver virtualization and cloud solutions that meet their unique needs. You’ll build new relationships with prospective customers and expand business with the existing clients in your assigned territory. This position gives you the opportunity to work with partner sales and services organizations, as well as IT and business executives, to develop and carry out sales plans for Red Hat products and services. This position can be located in the Virginia, Washington D.C., or Maryland areas.
Primary job responsibilities
Work closely with the enterprise sales account teams to identify key accounts in the DOD community, assist in the creation of account plans, and execute on those strategic plans
Break into net new accounts through proof-of-concepts and pilots
Become a trusted advisor for senior IT and business executives within the DOD, with the goal of creating a long-term partnership with DOD customers
Ensure that Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) gets used in production environments and becomes the strategic choice for virtualization
Guide the customer from adopting virtualization to a private, hybrid, and public cloud using Red Hat technologies and services
Collaborate with the Red Hat Sales team, overachieve goals, and accurately forecast pipeline activity
Required skills
4+ years of experience selling virtualization and cloud software solutions to DOD agencies
8+ years of experience in a solution sales role with 4+ of those years focused on enterprise virtualization, particularly in systems management
Technical experience with enterprise virtualization technologies like Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV), VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, etc.
Outstanding communications skills, both verbal and written, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
5+ years in a solutions sales mentality working with multiple products and services
Ability to work seamlessly with global, cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
Excellent balance of strategic and tactical skills, with a high level of intellectual agility
Master’s degree or equivalent highly preferred
