Position Overview

The Director of Sales position is a leadership and sales role with responsibility for leading and managing all functions of a successful sales department for a radio station(s) in specific market geography. The Director of Sales position is one of 100+ who provide oversight for the revenue generation of 850 radio stations across the United States. The Director of Sales reports to a regional Market Manager.

The Director of Sales is responsible for:

Effectively growing sales revenue at rates that exceed industry or peer group.
Leading and implementing initiatives that transform the business from a radio company to a media and entertainment company that provides integrated consumer platforms and advertiser solutions.
Implementing targeted, innovative, customer centric, business focused initiatives that drive revenue growth by leveraging appropriate resources and partnering with key stakeholders.
Managing sales P&L accountability and delivering top financial results and managing accurate forecasting for one of 130+ markets across the United States.
Implementing the sales strategic plan and direction with the Market Manager in the Region.
Achieving key region / national sales metrics and implementing strategic initiatives through the radio stations (such as increasing direct local business for stations within the market).
Establishing and cultivating relationships with advertisers, on air talent, entire radio station Staff, and community via civic engagement.
Proactively develop sales force through recruiting, selecting and growing exceptional sales talent, managing / coaching employee performance, and holding employees accountable against business and sales metrics while leading, managing, and overseeing a culture of diversity and high ethical standards.
Communicating expectations clearly, in both individual and group settings supported with timely, thoughtful, quality, risk- based decisions.
Gaining buy in for and communicating the Clear Channel Radio vision internally and externally by owning all aspects of the local sales plan.
Leading through change with a clear and compelling style.
Oversee and manage station and cluster pricing strategy through utilizing inventory management system and pricing tools, partnering with the Director of Revenue Management, and training sales managers to maximize revenue through inventory management pricing strategy
Maximize revenue of each buy through effectively presenting persuasive sales presentations that include analyzed information of stations’ offerings and how it provides the best solution for the client’s needs
Resolve grievances and complaints of key clients by effectively negotiating with clients and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to remedy the issue.

Required Skills

A minimum of 5-8 years business management within the radio business or a company with strong product/customer interface.
A proven track record in running successful and profitable sales operations with documented revenue growth success.
Excellent communication and influencing abilities across multiple levels. Must have a dynamic presence, stellar written and presentation skills.
Deep and broad business acumen with strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
The ability to lead and execute in a multi-task, fast-paced dynamic environment.
A strong sales talent mindset – exceptional people management and team performance experience.
