Title: Principle Systems Engineer (pre-sales)

The SE is the primary technical resource for the regional Sales manager. Responsible for actively driving and managing the technology proposition and evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for the Infinera product portfolio. The Systems Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business commercial and technical customers. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle maintaining senior level relationships.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

Responsible for managing technical demonstrations and lab trials
Responsible for development and delivery of technical product presentations / demonstrations;
Managing and interpreting customer requirements – speaking with customers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs;
Articulating to customers that a product or design solution best satisfies their requirements in terms of reliability, scalability, price and delivery;
Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events;
Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Able to convey customer feature requirements to corporate Product Line Management teams;
Able to travel throughout the sales region.
Develop and grow long-term relationships with customers;
Producing customer orderable quotations;
Provide after-sales support services;
Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;
Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.

Personal profile – Systems Engineer
Personality: You will be self-driven with a positive outlook and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives. You will be reliable and determined with excellent communication skills able to see things from another person’s perspective. Well presented and businesslike and sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel as needed within the region.

Specific Job Skills:

Experience in optical and transmission systems engineering with a strong knowledge of telecommunications especially DWDM transmission systems.
Must have North American Tier I experience, including managing FOAs and field deployments.
Exceptional presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
Telecommunication Network Planning (long-haul, metro, access)
Possess a strong ability to turn concepts through the design cycle including solution development and cost modelling
An articulate communicator, with excellent writing and social skills and an analytical approach to provide appropriate solutions to whichever tasks are presented.
Experience with large multi-national and tier one telco’s and ISP’s with strong senior level relationships.

Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in system engineering and possess a strong knowledge of DWDM technology. The candidate must also be comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a young technical sales organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFP’s and when submitting reports. Must also be organized, analytical and able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.

10+ years relevant experience in vendor sales engineering
Experience and familiarity of Infinera products desirable
Sales Engineering Expertise with Content Providers and Data Centers.

Prefer Master’s level or PhD background, however candidates with demonstrable technical depth will also be considered.
