The Senior Mobile Acoustic Engineer is responsible for research, architect, design, and validate the holistic acoustic solutions across our mobile product portfolio. You will work closely with system architect, electrical, ID, DSP, and SW engineers, as well as ODM and suppliers to:

Responsibilities

Define key acoustic specifications for each program based on program’s strategic intent, market segment, desired experience, top level performance requirement, cost goal, and ID/ mechanical design constraints.
Recommend best material, component, and solution choices for each program to deliver the overall audio experience per specification. The scope encompasses the whole audio system including loudspeaker, microphone, headset, and other mobile audio accessories. You need to clearly articulate design and performance trade-off, identify opportunity for leveraging/reuse audio solutions across multiple programs, and highlight the opportunity for unique audio /acoustic experience and low-cost design options to system architect and program management team.
Work with supplier for customized transducer designs.
Use acoustic simulation or experimental analysis to provide solid design guideline for audio component placement, enclosure and housing designs. Develop reference schematic, PCB layout including noise mitigation measures.
Develop acoustic validation methodology (both objective and subjective). Establish acoustic in-house test facility. Drive consistency in audio test mythology across programs.
Own prototype’s acoustic performance validation and tuning. Debug and drive defect resolution through the program development cycle.
Responsible for acoustic solution certifications for relevant industry standards.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Require BS or MS major in mechanical with focus on acoustic and audio engineering.
8+ years of audio electrical-mechanical experience in mobile or consumer audio product companies with proven product launch record.

Knowledge and Skills

Thorough knowledge of acoustics and mechanical design, especially in miniature/mobile transducers (mic and speakers) designs.
Proficient with acoustic test equipment and the test methodology / procedure to characterize and validate key acoustic components (speakers, microphones, headsets, etc).
Experience in mechanical modeling and design tools.
Knowledge on acoustic material modeling, simulation, and simulation software is a strong plus.
Excellent communication skills, self-manage and highly motivated to work with cross discipline teams to deliver superb solutions.
Limited travel may be required to visit suppliers, support development, prototype build or production ramp activities..
