The Requirement:
SDL seeks to hire a VP Global Field Marketing to join their organisation. This is a key hire and will be a major contributor towards the furthering SDL’s success as the recognised supplier of choice within CXM.
Reporting into the CMO, this role will have accountability for thought leadership through to execution of SDL’s Global Field Marketing plan encompassing accountability for strategy and delivery. The VP Global Field Marketing will also make a key contribution to the Global Marketing Council and the direction of marketing in line with Company goals.

Goals and accountabilities:

As part of the Global Marketing Leadership Team, the VP Global Field Marketing will hold accountability for maximizing efficiency and effectiveness of SDL’s field marketing organization and activities – with a goal to increase awareness, pipeline and revenues with particular attention to the top Global500 Enterprise Customers Globally
This will involve providing thought leadership and development of effective Field Marketing strategy, programs, tactics aligned with growth goals
Plus leading and enabling effective execution ensuring measured, tangible outcomes of results within agreed budget parameters and efficient time lines. Encompassing increased pipeline as well as awareness of SDL within prospects, customers and partners
Providing thought leadership and working in conjunction with the CMO to develop a world class field and digital marketing framework
Ensuring total cohesion of Field Marketing across all divisions and lines of business to ensure cohesion of campaigns and messaging and maximum efficiency and output
Ensuring full alignment and integration with sales across all regions
Will hold accountability for reviewing, leading, building and expanding upon the skills within Field Marketing ensuring the organization is agile and can scale to demand, ensuring that opportunity is optimized and measurable and Field Marketing activity is consistent across all business segments and routes to market
To lead transformation and change with respect to how Field Marketing is done today and needs to be done in the era of “modern marketing”
Deliver a field marketing approach consistent with the empowered customer, i.e. understand and adept at buyer personas, orchestrating content and engagement along the buyer journey and deploying an integrated marketing approach that included digital and off-line marketing practices to optimize response levels and measurable pipeline contribution
Ideally able to manage telemarketing resources and external service providers to both continually build the customer database, successfully engage with customers and prospects and assist in opportunity development and pipeline acceleration.

Background and key experiences required:

Will have held the role and made significant contribution as VP Global Field Marketing within a similar sized or larger market leader
And, ideally will have held a significant marketing leadership role within a smaller, non branded company where a major contribution can be demonstrated in terms of supporting growth
Will have held accountability for building field marketing strategy
As well as leading successful execution and implementation with tangible and measured successful outcomes that have supported growth and transformation, aligned to sales and optimized to target markets and buyers.
Proven ability to build, measure and progress pipeline
Of importance is demonstration of a clear track record of increasing effectiveness of Field Marketing that has significantly contributed to positive growth, is viewed as a full business partner by sales and drives consistent achievement and measurable outcomes
A demonstrable understanding of marketing compelling value propositions to the Business at C level into the Enterprise within a solution oriented environment
Ideally within CXM or related markets
Will have developed or played a significant role in developing a “world class” digital and social marketing strategy that has increased visibility, pipeline and revenues amongst prospects, customers, partners
Ideally will have developed a marketing strategy encompassing multiple product lines that have required cohesion of message and approach to market
Supported by building / leading a centralised Field Marketing organisation
Experience of leading teams across diverse and dispersed organizations and countries with a deep understanding of cultural diversity; of particular importance is the Americas and EMEA followed by APAC
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of field marketing best practices, latest tools and methodologies and implementing structure and process
Demonstrable track record of creativity and innovation as a Marketer
Ideally, will be recognised as an advocate and thought leader of “state of the art” marketing with tangible results based on strong ROI
And will demonstrate underpinning creativity with strong commercial acumen in terms of managing, maximising and working to budget
Track record of working within a matrixed environment that has required building productive relationships with peers and stakeholders across multiple lines of business is important
Strong influencer with a pragmatic and collaborative approach to driving change
Must be an active coach and mentor of people
Will have been a catalyst of change on at least one occasion throughout career
Ideally will have marketed to the Enterprise, the SMB, with and through Partners and will have supported, or run marketing in support of inside sales, telemarketing and business development /and demand generation
