Key responsibilities

The Director of Corporate Accounting will be an important contributor to the Global Corporate Controllership Group. In this role, the Director will be responsible for managing the worldwide close process including financial statement review and analysis. This role ensures proper U.S. GAAP accounting treatment for corporate accounting activity including issues with revenue recognition, royalties, investments, acquisitions, asset impairment and fixed assets. Accordingly, this person will interface with a broad range of people throughout the entire global finance organization. This person will assist the VP Finance & Worldwide Controller and Chief Accounting Officer in applying U.S. GAAP to EA specific transactions.

Supervise staff of 12 accounting professionals (5 direct reports)
Manage domestic GL close process including financial statement review and analysis from both statutory and management perspective
Manage worldwide close including overseeing preparation of schedules/packages for close meetings and earnings release
Serve as liaison with International territories, global publishing group, online business group and financial planning & analysis to ensure consistent treatment of accounting issues
Partner with information technology group in planning, design, testing and implementation of new system enhancements
Provide support for external filings with SEC, including preparing financial schedules and disclosure updates for the 10-Q and 10-K
Document key policies and procedures; identify and understand key process flows; review processes for proper controls and implement process improvements
Assist with special projects as assigned

Technical skills and experience

The following skills are necessary to be successful in this challenging position:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Certified Public Accountant
At least 12 years relevant experience, including supervisory experience. Industry experience is preferred.
Excellent technical accounting skills; ability to research and understand technical details, but also interpret and present in lay terms to non-technical finance and other business partners.
Strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to be flexible as a member of multiple teams and comfortably across functional areas as well as amongst all levels of management.
Effective time management, work prioritization and delegation skills.
Excellent analytical and business support skills.
International experience in a multinational company is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Oracle R12 and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) a plus
