Job Summary
Apple’s Core OS organization is seeking an energetic and detail oriented Test Engineer who will have significant impact on rapid delivery and quality of iOS and Mac OS X operating systems. The nature of the position requires the candidate to possess excellent analytical and debugging skills, strong interpersonal skills, and drive to make a difference. Successful candidate will need to quickly learn and utilize knowledge of various operating system internal sub-systems.
Key Qualifications
A genuine passion for low level system testing and automation
Strong initiative, written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities along with strong troubleshooting skills
Strong scripting and automation skills using one or more of – C/C++, python, Perl, Unix shell
Previous experience in testing embedded systems and Kernel level code.
Knowledge of OS X, iOS, Unix, Android or Linux operating system internals and debugging
Previous experience with operating system testing, specially Unix will be helpful
Description
Work closely with the SW development team to write robust test plans based on design specs and SW requirements Develop and Execute test cases on low level Operating System features, debug failures to provide logs, traces, crash dumps etc. Write code in C/C++/Python to automate test cases and increase test capacity and repeatability Work with a team of SW test engineers to contribute to development of automation scripts and framework to test low level OS internal APIs Analyze test data to access product quality and work with SW team to increase test coverage Plan test schedule, execution and automation along with SW development managers to meet aggressive SW release schedules
Education
BS in Computer Science and 5+ years of System Test Experience or Masters and 3+ years of System Test experience
